Joe
Teacher

Joe is a classically trained musician with a B.A. in music from Willamette University. He has performed in community orchestras and choirs but now folk music is his primary focus. Since 1990 he has played violin, viola, mandolin and saw with the Golden State Ramblers, an acoustic band specializing in folk music and pre-1940's pop music. He has participated in numerous California folk events as a performer, workshop leader, (rounds singing and saw playing), and contestant, (twice honored as Best Saw Player). He has also played as a musician in three productions of "The Grapes of Wrath".

As a parent of grown daughters, Joe was using many of the concepts of Music Together before there was such an organization. Throughout the girls' growing-up years, Joe periodically shared music in their classrooms. Since 1995, Joe has taught music to kindergarteners and 1st graders as a volunteer and a professional. In addition to his love of music, Joe has a passion for children's picture books. If you frequent libraries, don't be surprised if you see him poking around for books with a music connection, which he shares regularly in his classes. He has been a Music Together teacher since the fall of 2000.
